Lois couldn't believe the silence that unfolded in her apartment after he left. The ring glistened brightly in the velvet box that sat, for now, on her coffee table. She smiled to herself, for the first time in years, Lois Lane could admit to love. And she knew it was true, she loved Clark Kent with all her soul.

But, he had a secret that he had yet to tell her. What a surprise to Clark, Lois thought, I already know! Clark is Superman. The thought made her happy, yet disillusioned at the same time. And this was all before he had even told her yet! It wasn't so much of a LIE, per se, it was a lousy cover up job. How she didn't see it was beyond her at the moment. Thoughts of Cheese of the Month ran through her head, making her smile at her own stupidity.

Lois and Clark had walked to Lois' apartment to get out of the rain, where she had told him that she needed to think. He thought she meant about the proposal, but it was really about his apparent dual identity. What was she to do? She could yell at him, push him away, take the easy way out. Or she could plot revenge.

Picking up the telephone and dialing the now memorized number, she waited for him to answer. After all, it was nearing midnight, where would he be but at home? She chuckled. He could be out saving the world.

"Hello," came Clark's voice, clouded with sleep.

"Clark, it's me. Can you come over, please?" Lois whispered, pathetically. "I really need to talk to you."

Puzzled, Clark agreed, wondering why she didn't just say what she had to just an hour before.

Lois smiled into the phone. She hopped into the shower and waited for the sound of the door, which she had coincidentally left open for him. When she heard the sound, she threw on a sleeveless shirt (that was way too low cut)and sweat pants.

"I'm coming," she called, fighting the urge to giggle. He was going to get it, whether he liked it or not!

Clark sat on the couch, still confused, but he picked up the remote and began channel surfing. "Why don't I get cable," he muttered to himself, as the remote was snatched from his hand.

Lois stood above him, dripping wet, it appeared she didn't even bother to dry herself before throwing on the clothes. The water dripped from her hair, saturating the shirt. She watched him blush and avert his gaze.

Lois smiled wryly, knowing what kind of reaction she could create in him. She knew she turned him on. His breath quickened, then returned to normal as he stared down at his T-shirt, as if Smallville Baseball was the most interesting thing in the world. Lois walked around the couch, sat next to him, and licked her lips. Clark's jaw dropped, but he covered that with a yawn.

Lois took a deep breath. "I know who you are and I KNOW what I want."

"What?," Clark gasped, unable to understand.

Lois leaned on him, pushed on his chest until she was propped up on top of him. "I know who you are and I want you."

Lois ran her hands across his chest, stopping at the collar of his shirt. She nuzzled his neck, making him groan.

"I want to hear you say it, Clark," she said against his jaw.

"I don't know—"

"Don't play dumb with me, Clark Kent, I know what I want, remember?"

Clark sighed. "Are you sure you know?"

"I'm sure," Lois said cattily, running her hands down his arms.

Clark looked down and took a deep breath. "I'm Superman. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. It's not that I don't trust you, but I wanted you to love me for me, and not the spandex." He looked soulfully into her brown eyes, gave her such a sad glance that her previous anger subsided.

"I know," she said sweetly, "and I brought you here for a purpose."

Lois leaned down again, this time, bringing her lips to meet his.

The couple stayed like this, kissing passionately, for a good five minutes, when Lois stood and walked towards her bedroom. "I still know what I want, Clark Kent, and that does include marrying you."

THE END. =)
