	Clark was describing Lois' feelings for Deter and how he acted
towards her to Perry and Jimmy.  He turned to see Lois and Deter walking
towards him.  Clark stiffened and clinched his fist.  He felt a hand on his
shoulder.
	"Just take your cue from the master of cool here, huh? Slow and
easy," Perry instructed.
	Lois approached them and greeted the three men by saying, "Perry,
Jimmy, Clark, I quit."
	Jimmy, thinking that he had heard her wrong, asked, "You what?"
	"I need to get away so that I can totally recover," she clarified.
	"We're leaving the country," Deter added.
	"No, no, you can't," Clark said desperately.
	"We're going to the South of France. Max has a home there, and he
thinks that one-on-one intensive therapy. . ."  Lois trailed off.
	Perry lunged at Deter, but was held back by Jimmy.  He shouted, "What
are you doing, you little brainsucker?"
	Clark turned to Lois and said quietly, "Lois, listen to me."
	"No, I know what's best for me."
	"Hey, what's the deal here?" Perry yelled.
	Jimmy was still holding Perry back as he said, "Chief, calm down."
	Perry was out for blood it seemed.  Doctor Max Deter's blood.  He
refused to be calmed or pacified.  "No, the gates are up, and this calamity
train is gonna stop now!"
	"Breathe or something," Jimmy told Perry.
	"Lois, I can't let you go, not this time," Clark said firmly.  He was
prepared to do anything to stop Lois from leaving with Deter.
	"Clark, you have no choice in this," Deter said smugly.
	"Deter, trust me on this, you have no idea who you're talking to,"
Clark said threateningly.
	Suddenly, the electromagnetic wave that had been terrorizing the
cityfor the past few days started again.  Clark grimaced with pain; the wave
gave him a headache.  A copyboy stumbled at the force of the wave and turned
on the radio.  Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" was playing.
Everyone in the newsroom, except Lois and Clark, started dancing to the
music.
	Lois collapsed to the floor, overcome by memories.  She called out
for Deter, but since he was waltzing with Ralph, Clark knelt down to hold
her.

*There were nights when the wind was so cold
 That my body froze in bed
 If I just listened to it right outside the window*

 That all the tears turned to dust
 And I just knew my eyes were drying up forever*

	The electromagnetic wave stopped.  Everyone stopped dancing and
someone turned the radio off.
	"Judas Priest!  It happened again!  I want someone on this.  Now!"
Perry yelled.
	Lois and Clark were still on the floor.  He helped her up and she
smiled at him.  Deter walked over to them.
	"Lois, we need to hurry or we'll miss our plane," he said.
	Lois turned away from Clark to face Deter and said loudly, "Doctor, I
think our time together is over."  She raised her fist and punched him.
	She smiled at Clark.  "I'm back."  She kissed him.
	They were brought back to reality by a loud cheer.  The whole staff
was gathered around them cheering and smiling.
	Clark walked over to his desk and pulled something out of a drawer.
He walked back to Lois.
	"Will you marry me?" he whispered.
	She smiled and nodded.  He slipped the diamond ring back on her
finger.  Applause rang from every corner of the newsroom.
	Deter slunk out of the newsroom in defeat.  His departure was
unnoticed, since everyone was watching Lois and Clark who were engaged in
another kiss.
